Hey Vanity Babes,
Today we are going to talk about what to expect when being in the lash industry. Many people think being in the lash industry is so easy. I have so many people that sign up for my trainings thinking that this is quick money or this will be the perfect side hustle for them. The lash industry is so much more than a side hustle. It can be quick money, but not any quicker than an hour and a half to two hours per person. LOL. No seriously though.
The lash industry is quite hectic sometimes, but that's just like any other industry. The problem is, we wear many hats in our profession. Don't get me wrong, it's not a problem necessarily, but it is so much that you have to keep up with. If you are working on your own, you're basically doing inventory, finances, planning content, designing graphics, scheduling clients... the list goes on and on. You have to make sure you keep your information up to date as long as the industry continues to grow. Like I always say, us business owners are superheroes.
Being in the lash industry is fun in my opinion, but you have to stay determined. You have to map out your competitors' strengths and weaknesses. You have to make sure that you're not only skilled but also knowledgeable. People want to see that you know what you're talking about so be sure to stay fresh with your personal education. You also have to make your brand stand out from others. Figure out what makes your business unique.
On the real side, the lash industry is stressful just like any other professional industry. You get to go through people hating, copying, down talking, being in competition and more. This is definitely to be expected. You have to keep a level head. My best advice to you is to worry about YOU. Don't get caught up in feeling like everything is a competition. Even though running your own business means competing, you don't have to continue with that mindset.
Never compare your work to others. This is a major downfall. Many artists compare constantly, including myself. You end up feeling like your work isn't as good. You begin to question "Am I charging too much?" "too less?" or you begin to think people won't book with you because your work may not be as good as you think someone else's work is. To be completely honest, looks can be deceiving. There could be artists that post their work and it looks so neat and pretty, but in reality, the isolation is terrible and the lashes are placed on the eyelid. Don't get me wrong, its ok to be inspired by other artists' lash styles, but never feel like your work is any less than the next.
I won't get too deep today on this blog, but I will be dropping a full Lash Artist guide soon. This guide is going to help aspiring lash artists as well as experienced techs that may want to add to the knowledge they already have. The Lash Artist guide is going to map out everything from startups, to gaining and maintaining clientele, to marketing tips and how to keep yourself relevant in the industry and much more. Stay tuned.
Anywho, that is all for today my lovely vanity babes! Thanks so much for your support. :) If you enjoy these blogs, please email us topics that you want to read about.
