Vanity babes! How are you all today? I know everything has been hectic lately with the pandemic and everything. That is exactly why I am here to talk to you about self care! Whew. I won't keep you all day, but I want to speak a little about it. It is definitely important that when running a business, you take extra self care time. Even if you don't own a business, take time for yourself. It can affect your health if you don't.
When running a business, we often get so caught up in making sure everything is organized and perfect. We spend a lot of time trying to perfect our craft and stay focused so that we don't let our supporters down. But when do we get time for us? It is very important to take time for you at least 1-2 times per week. When our brains are constantly working, it causes stress. It causes us to become overwhelmed. I know, first hand. I've struggled with depression off and on for almost 10 years. I developed PPD and PTSD during the last 4 years of my life due to personal reasons. It has been a complete struggle trying to run a business, be a great mom and wife, and continue with everyday life.
When I first started my business, almost 4 years ago, I was the kind of person to do stuff here and there. I didn't take my business serious until after the first year of being a full time entrepreneur. I started realizing that a little work here and there wasn't going to help me reach my goal. Once I began to put more work in, I couldn't stop. For the first 2 1/2 years of running a full time business, I became so busy that I began to shut down. I was having bad depressive episodes. My anxiety grew bigger than me at times. I was all over the place. I worked all day everyday, and I didn't know how or when to stop. It was crazy. But then one day I realized, I have to stop overworking myself.
I then began to cut my schedule down little by little. I was working 7 days a week, and then, I went down to 6 days. Not a drastic change, lol. But I did manage to get myself level headed to where I was able to have at least 1 day to myself to think and breathe. It was still a struggle because I believed that if I took time off, my clients and customers would no longer support me. In reality, my health is what matter most.
Fast forward, I now only work 4 days a week as far as servicing clients. I only train once a week. I have a set day for my deliveries and shipments. And I have specific days for content, whenever I actually follow this schedule. LOL. I know some of you can relate. Content days are BOR-ING hunny. But for the past year, my anxiety and depression started taking over me. Mentally, I haven't been able to process a lot. My brain seems like its working 100 miles per hour. But guess what? I take time for me now. Like I said, it is super important to get that time because if you don't, it can drive you crazy. I know for a fact that my supporters will still be here in the end. If I lose a few along the way, that is OK. I just always pray and continue to have faith.
Running a business isn't easy at all. I know. It takes time to get where you want to be. It takes effort, motivation and faith. But I can absolutely guarantee that you will be successful, no matter how many days you take for you.
If YOU aren't ok, how will your business stay successful? How will you run your business if you don't take care of YOU first? Think about it.
Have a great day everyone. Ill be back with more blog posts soon so stay tuned.
